Ka Huna massage originates from the Hawaiian Islands, where it was practised by the local healers or 'ka hunas'.
This is a nurturing, reviving massage done using warm coconut oil and rhythmic, endlessly flowing strokes. The style is meditative, grounding and gentle yet firm, with some deeper work included, all done using fingers, hands, forearms and elbows. Hands, feet, scalp and face massage all included.
The goal is to take away tension, relax the mind, bring fresh oxygen to the body, heal physical and emotional aches and pains, calm the nervous system, and strengthen the lymphatic, immune, circulatory, digestive and respiratory systems.
Described as the Rolls Royce of massage, Ka Huna feels like no other, and can have deep effects on many levels.
I'm a tall guy (6 foot 3) giving me a long reach (which is useful for this style of massage), and I use a luxurious, hand-made extra wide, comfortable Scandinavian-made padded massage table (with a separate cushioned headrest), organic oils and soothing music.
